Many Paths to Recovery
Face It! includes and embraces people with all types of recovery experiences, including their family members and friends. Millions of people have found healing through many paths to recovery – self-help groups, peer-based recovery programs, professional treatment, harm reduction, medical interventions – and all of these paths have been proven to work.
We celebrate the growing pluralism of the culture of recovery, and encourage people to find help, support and healing along the path of their choosing. If you try an approach to recovery and it does not work for you, don’t get discouraged – you can try again in a more focused way, or you can explore other paths to recovery. Recovery is the process of bringing alcohol and drug problems into a state of stable remission. From individual to individual, that process may require many diverse strategies and steps. At Face It! we believe that each person has a unique recovery journey, and that there is no one recovery path that will work for all people. We define recovery in a very broad way: “You are in recovery if you say you are”.
